HOME / Indonesia lithium battery energy storage project - SCM INDUSTRIES BESSJakarta, June 29 – Indonesia's Battery Corporation and China's Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) plan to bring a joint lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant into operation by the end of 2026, according to Dwi Anggia, spokeswoman for the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Source: Reuters Indonesia's Battery Corporation and CATL will open a lithium-ion EV battery plant in West Java by end-2026 with 6.9 GWh capacity, expandable to 15 GWh and 40 GWh with solar storage, supporting 600k EVs annually by 2030.
The production would be supplied to both domestic and foreign markets. A $6 billion power battery project agreed upon in 2022 by Indonesian enterprises, including state miner PT Aneka Tambang Tbk, opens new tab, and a CATL consortium includes the partnership between Indonesia Battery Corp and the Chinese behemoth Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.
